Around the world, about 750 million people use Microsoft Excel.
If you’re one of the people who are using Microsoft Excel, you’ve probably realized how confusing and difficult it can be to use for beginners.
Thankfully, there are plenty of Microsoft Excel tips and tricks to help you get started! We’ll break some of them down for you here.
1. Wrap the Text in Your Cell
Have you ever been writing in a cell and then realize that the text runs out of it? Well, you can hit a few buttons and have the text all wrap together and fit into your cell.
To create a new line, you can type Alt and Enter to start a new line in your cell and make sure it doesn’t run out. You can also select the Wrap Text option. To use this, just right-click on the cell you want, and then click on the tab that says Format Cells.
There should be an option to wrap your text from there.
2. Add More Than One Column or Row
If you are trying to add more than one row or column in your Excel sheet, you can select the number of columns or rows you want to add.
Next, all you have to do is drag them either down or to the right or left. Once you’ve highlighted them, you can also right-click and choose insert.
3. Use Filters
If you have a big Excel sheet, it can be frustrating trying to sift through all the data. Most of the time you don’t need to see all of it, so you can use filters to help try and narrow it down.
You can add a filter to each column, and then there should be a little drop-down arrow at the top where you can select and filter out the results that you want.
4. Delete Blank Cells Quickly
Maybe instead of adding columns, you’re trying to delete or get rid of some of the blank ones.
If you don’t have any information in them, you can delete them all with just a few easy clicks, even if they’re not all together.
Use the filter that you made, and if you scroll to the bottom, there should be a Blank option. Then all of the blank cells will show up, where you can delete them all at once.
5. Select Data Faster
For selecting data fister, pick the first cell that you want. Select it and then hold down Ctrl and Shift. You can then hit the arrow buttons to highlight and select more of the data you want.
You can also select one cell and then use your mouse to drag from one cell to the next to highlight a bigger group of data.
