Its the end of the semester. You have two research papers due, and at least three finals to study for before the end of the week. You gather your books on your desk sit down with your piping hot coffee and stare at the desk as if it is a cliff you now need to jump off of.
Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed now!
There are ways to organize your study time to maximize your time and ability to absorb the massive amounts of information you need to know.
Read on to learn some of the best tips we found about the easy way to study.
Do Not Procrastinate
We have all done it. You look at that huge pile of books and think that you will come back to it later after a snack.
About 20% of Americans would consider themselves chronic procrastinators.
This can be detrimental to your studying because you will be short on time later and need to cram for that test.
No matter who you are, cramming is much less efficient than setting aside the proper amount time to study for each class. You will retain the information much better and be much less stressed if you do not procrastinate.
Set a Study Time vs. Break Time Rule
A great tip for the easy way to study is to spend 50 minutes studying and then take a 10-minute break to refresh your brain before going back to the books.
Using this 50/10 rule will also keep you from getting distracted because you have a specific time for bathroom breaks and/or snacks.
You can adjust the study and break periods to fit your needs, but whatever time limits you set for yourself, stick to them!
One Easy Way to Study Is to Use an App
A great way to include technology into your studying without getting you off track is to use a note-taking app like Evernote.
This little app is super easy to use and has tons of features to optimize your studying such as:
- audio notes
- videos
- to-do lists
- and multiplatform synching so you can take notes on your phone in class and open them on your laptop later
The best part is that the basic version of this app is free!
Choose Classes That Keep Your Attention
The hardest thing to study will always be the topic you are least interested in. When you are choosing your classes, try to pick the ones that really pique your interest, even if it may not be the easiest class.
Online classes difficult for many people because they require a lot of self-motivation and proactivity.
If you need to take classes online, you should look for classes that take less time than at a typical college.
For example, some online MBA programs in Michigan will even allow you to expedite your degree and have you graduate in only 18 months!
